Dognapped by a Monkey: A Tale from the Trees
In Malaysia, a two-week-old puppy was held hostage in the treetops. After three days of bizarre attempts, the authorities finally rescued the pup from its unexpected captor.

This might be the strangest story we've heard lately. For three days, a two-week-old puppy was held hostage atop electric poles in the village of Leshari Putera, Malaysia. Residents who noticed the puppy tried to save it, but soon realized who the unusual captor was – a wild monkey.
According to the residents, the monkey was part of a troop that often stole food from homes, but they were stunned to discover its ability to snatch animals. Initially, as more residents arrived to help, the monkey got scared and fled into the jungle with the puppy in its grasp. Only after three days of searching did the monkey return to the residential area to steal more food, while still bringing the little puppy along.
One resident shared: "He just carried him everywhere. It was as if he regarded the puppy as a friend or his own baby. It was very strange." She added that after residents failed to rescue the puppy on their own, they called in rescue forces to scare off the monkey and get it to leave the puppy behind. And it worked.
After the rescue, one of the residents took the puppy for a check-up and care. Apparently, the puppy had been wandering alone on the street after its birth, which is when it was abducted by the monkey.
