The Mystery Creature Outside Her Window: A Croissant?

Officials from the Krakow Animal Welfare Office in Poland recently responded to a call from a city resident. The woman claimed there was a mysterious creature outside her home. She reported seeing a headless being perched in a tree opposite her window and was too scared to open it in fear it would get inside.

Adam, the inspector who took the call, shared that the woman described a brown creature lurking outside for two days, without seeing its head, suspecting it might be an iguana. Although Adam tried to guide her, she was too terrified and insisted on a visit. She wondered if it was a bird of prey, though she was convinced it looked like a kind of caterpillar. The inspectors doubted there was any chance for a caterpillar roaming chilly Polish streets, but they went to investigate.

Upon arrival, they approached the tree and found something entirely unexpected. In the viral post about the incident, the organization stated the team thought it was possibly an abandoned animal or a dead tropical reptile, hence its motionless state. "When we looked closer, the poor thing had neither legs nor a head. We knew already we couldn't help," they humorously wrote on Facebook.

After a quick investigation, the team solved the case—the mysterious animal was actually... a croissant (a type of French pastry) that had been thrown out the window, likely to feed pigeons.

Adam, the inspector, took the situation with humor, commenting: "It's hard to assist something that was baked before. It almost moved, it was ready to invade, it started to look like a dragon's offspring."
