What started as a routine afternoon trip to the supermarket turned into an unexpected adventure. A New Mexico man was shocked to find his car had gained some uninvited backseat passengers – thousands of bees had moved in. The man, whose name remains undisclosed, had left his car windows open during his shopping, and upon his return, placed his groceries in his vehicle. It was only after he started driving that he noticed he wasn't alone on the road.
Local firefighters quickly arrived, securing the area to ensure the safety of other shoppers. They called upon Jesse Johnson, a firefighter who also happens to be a beekeeper in his spare time. Johnson came equipped with a hive kit, lemongrass oil, gloves, and appropriate attire, successfully relocating the swarm to a more suitable area.

Around 15,000 bees were transferred to Johnson's property outside the city in a rescue operation that lasted about two hours. A nearby security guard was stung, although no other injuries were reported. As is known, bees sting in self-defense, and their sting can cause pain, infection, or even pose a life-threatening risk for those allergic to bee venom.
Officials noted that while firefighters typically do not handle bee swarms, the potential danger in such a crowded area prompted them to make an exception.
