Have You Heard of the Yellow Penguin? Millions Surprised by Its Rare Color
Meet the world's first penguin with partial pigmentation loss, turning its feathers from black to bright yellow.

A Belgian wildlife photographer named Yves Adams captured an extraordinary sighting of a yellow penguin living among a massive colony of 120,000 penguins, somewhere between Antarctica and the southern Atlantic Ocean.
The documentation took place about a year before the pandemic struck, on the Georgia Islands, showcasing a 'royal' penguin with a yellow hue – likely the world's first. "I believe it's a penguin experiencing partial loss of pigmentation," Adams wrote on his Facebook page. "Its cells don't produce melanin, which likely affects its color, turning its feathers a bright yellow."
According to him, during the two-month journey, he took thousands of photos, and "just going through all the photos and deciding what to publish took me ages."
