Incredible: Skiier Escapes Pursuit by Massive Black Bear

Visitors at a Romanian ski resort were left in shock this week after witnessing the terrifying moment when a wild black bear suddenly chased after a skier.

In a video filmed in real-time and later uploaded to social media in the country, the skier initially seems completely unaware of what is happening around him. Skiers on the chairlift who saw the event unfold from above began shouting warnings and waving their arms at the skier.

"Faster, faster, run. Come on, the bear's chasing you. Whatever you do, don't look back," people shouted from the chairlift.

Fortunately, the skier eventually understood their signals and started employing clever distractions that, according to local police spokesperson Ivan Zeharia, saved him from the dangerous bear. "At some point, he decided to drop his backpack on the slope so that the bear would leave him alone. The bear then approached the backpack and abandoned its pursuit."

Zeharia and his colleagues in the police received reports that a black bear managed to enter the ski resort area and was roaming freely on the slopes. The officers who arrived conducted patrols with special off-road vehicles on the slope where the bear was seen and eventually announced that the bear fled back to the forest, likely scared away by the noise from the vehicles.
