Hidden Housemate: Man Secretly Lived in Family's Attic for Weeks
A shocking story from Rockhampton, Australia, reveals how a burglar turned attic squatter, lived undetected in a family's home for two weeks.

Monica Green, a resident of Rockhampton, Australia, had an unsettling feeling that something strange was happening at home. 'Items started moving from where I last left them, and no one believed me... sometimes even I doubted myself, thinking perhaps I'm imagining things. So many inexplicable occurrences kept happening,' she recounted.
Green finally decided to contact the local police on a recent Monday, tipping them off about her suspicions. 'She described returning from a doctor's appointment to find the air conditioning on, though she was certain she'd turned it off before leaving. The back door was ominously open wide, and there was an unfinished plate of food on the kitchen counter,' the police shared.
After a thorough search of the property, officers uncovered a frightening truth. 'We discovered that a stranger had broken into her home two weeks ago and decided to settle in her attic,' police revealed in a press statement.
In an interview with the Courier Mail, Green expressed her distress, 'I'm relieved the truth is out. I feel violated, imagining someone invading my personal space. My mind is racing with questions: what did he do in my house when I wasn’t around? Was he a threat to my kids and me? Even after changing the house locks, he managed to get copies of the keys and continued as if nothing happened. Since then, I've been on edge with every tiny noise and make sure multiple times daily that all doors are secure and it’s only us in the house.'
The intruder has been taken into custody pending legal proceedings.
