Heartbreak in Bolton: Swan Dies After Teens Vandalize Nest
In a tragic incident in England, a swan died of a broken heart after her cygnets were killed by teenagers. Her body was found near the nest about a month later.

A story that has touched many: A female swan in Bolton, England, died from a "broken heart" after teenagers vandalized her nest and killed most of her cygnets before they could hatch. Witnesses saw the teens throwing bricks and stones at the nest, located near a water canal, in late May this year. It's reported that three out of the six eggs in the nest were destroyed.
Activists who monitored the grieving swan said that shortly after the attack, the male swan abandoned the nest, likely due to stress, and two more eggs went missing. They also noted that the female swan was harassed by waterfowl, ducks, and dogs following the incident.
A few days ago, the female swan was found dead beside the nest with just one unhatched egg remaining. An activist, Sam Woodrow, commented: "There isn't much to say, she died of a broken heart. Her lifelong mate left her due to stress, and all her eggs were destroyed."
According to SWAN LIFELINE, an organization that aids wounded and sick swans, it's not uncommon for swans to die of heartbreak, especially after losing their partner. Following the spread of this tragic event on social media, thousands of people expressed their condemnation of the act, calling it sad and cruel.
