Years ago, a different kind of experience emerged in Rhode Island, USA: An 1828 building was transformed into a sought-after luxury mall, but that’s not the only surprise it holds.
The ground floor features a boulevard of shops including clothing, footwear, souvenirs, eateries, and a major food chain. The two floors above contain 48 charming micro-apartments available for daily, weekly, and monthly stays.
This revolutionary idea came from the building’s owner, Owen Granoff. "There are plenty of malls and shopping centers. I aimed to create something a bit different, offering not only a place to visit but also affordable living solutions for those okay with small spaces," he explains.
What do we mean by small apartments? Good question: Each contains a tiny bedroom, a small living room, and a kitchen just fit for one person. These apartments come fully furnished, optimizing space for maximum comfort and efficiency.
"I know the housing shortage in the city center is growing day by day, not to mention the steep price—over a thousand dollars for rent. Here, we offer the average renter a city-center apartment for a negligible $750," he concludes.
