An educational 'expert' has caused a stir in the Australian media after declaring in an interview with ABC television that parents should ask for their baby's consent before changing diapers. Diane Carson, speaking during a special program on 'Creating a Culture of Consent at Home,' suggested that parents should say to their baby, 'I'm going to change your diaper now. Is that okay with you?'
Tens of thousands mocked her method with comments like, 'Yeah, right. And now the baby is supposed to answer?' In response, Carson explained that while babies won't respond in words, parents should wait a moment and pay attention to the baby's body language or eye contact, which might show a positive reaction simply because they've been involved in the process.
However, an experiment involving a baby named Colton only resulted in more confusion. The video shows the baby visibly upset and crying when asked by his father, clearly not understanding 'what's wanted from him' and wondering why his full diaper isn't being changed more quickly.
