About a month and a half ago, Annette Sherham from Ridgeburg, Wisconsin, awoke at one in the morning feeling unwell. She tried to get out of bed but collapsed into a chair and couldn't move. Her husband, Kevin, was in a deep sleep.

Annette felt like she was suffocating but couldn't make a sound. The one who came to her rescue was the family cat, Gracie.

"Suddenly, I heard Gracie banging and banging on the bedroom door," Kevin recounted. "I got up and went to the door to stop Gracie from destroying it—and that's when I saw Annette sitting in the chair."

Both of them felt ill and called the police, reporting they couldn't breathe. Rescuers arrived quickly and discovered dangerous levels of carbon monoxide in the home due to a malfunction in the heating system.

"Gracie saved our lives," the couple stated. "She never comes into our bedroom at night, but this time she did, and it kept us alive."

Fortunately, Gracie also survived the poisoning and continues to live peacefully in the home of the family that owes her their lives.
