A Dream Arrest: How a 99-Year-Old's Wish Came True

At 99 years old, Annie from the Netherlands had managed to never run afoul of the law. Yet, as it turns out, this spotless record left her feeling a bit unfulfilled. Not long ago, she revealed to her niece her unusual desire not to 'leave this world' without ever having been arrested.

"I've always dreamt of being sent to jail," she confessed wistfully.

Her devoted niece decided to make this dream a reality. Last week, she contacted the local police station in their hometown of Nijmegen-Zuid, explaining her aunt's extraordinary wish.

The officers were happy to oblige. A few of them got into a patrol car, drove to Annie's house, and asked her to accompany them in the vehicle, with handcuffs on her wrists.

Annie was overjoyed. She accompanied the officers and spent a few minutes in a holding cell. The police captured the moment from every angle and posted the photos on their Facebook page.

"This isn’t something we would normally do, but we went out of our way for Annie," a police spokesperson explained. "She only spent a few minutes in the cell. What mattered to her was the experience. We have no idea why this was such a dream for her..."
