Surprising Catch: Fish with Human-Like Teeth Stumps Anglers

Anglers in the Russian city of Tula were startled by their catch: a large fish from the lake, its open mouth filled with teeth resembling those of a human.

Before jumping to conclusions about a new monster species, city experts identified the fish as a Pacu – a South American relative of the notorious piranha. Pacus have such strong teeth that urban legends claim they can sever a human hand with one bite. Yet, these teeth aren't just for intimidation; they help the Pacu crack open nuts and seeds dropping into the water from nearby trees. How did a South American fish end up in a Russian lake? Authorities suspect that a local resident had kept the Pacu as an aquarium pet and later released it into the lake when it outgrew its indoor home.
