Brooke, the mom, dresses Olivia, their seven-month-old baby.
A few days ago, Brooke had an early morning job interview, leaving the house before the kids were ready. Jeremy had to dress Olivia this time. That afternoon, when Brooke arrived at Olivia's daycare to pick her up, she was surprised to see Olivia wearing a blue romper
- and nothing else - no shirt or socks.
"I thought maybe she spilled something on herself," Brooke recalls. "But when I asked her caregiver, she laughed and said: 'No, that's how she arrived!'"
The surprised Brooke quickly texted Jeremy. "Did you send Olivia to daycare without a shirt today?" Jeremy hesitated: "Uh... I dressed her in something..." "A romper?" Brooke suggested. "Yes," Jeremy confirmed.
"You're supposed to put it on over a shirt!" Brooke texted, and he replied, "Oh, sorry, I'm not familiar with this stuff."
Brooke shared the story and a photo of Olivia in her romper on a popular parenting Facebook page, and the post went viral, garnering over 63,000 comments. "We were stunned by the amount of feedback we received," Brooke says. "It's amazing - everyone had similar stories!" So, while Jeremy might have experienced a bit of public embarrassment, his wife at least gained some understanding: nearly every dad, she realized from the comments, has sent their kids out in notably inappropriate outfits at least once.
