For a long time, 27-year-old Sarah Louise Bryan, a single mother from the UK, lived hand to mouth. At one point, Bryan, a cosmetologist by trade, was evicted from her apartment along with her two children because she couldn't keep up with the monthly rent in the Birmingham suburb where they lived.
In her distress, Bryan and her children temporarily moved in with friends. One night, as she lay in that hazy state between wakefulness and sleep, a curious image formed in her mind: a dress made of colorful fruit-flavored candies from the Skittles brand.
Realizing it was a truly unique idea, Bryan jumped out of bed and scoured the internet to see if such a dress had ever been made before. She quickly discovered it hadn't and set about making her vision a reality.
After 180 hours of labor, roughly 3,000 Skittles candies, and 90 tubes of glue, the dream came to life, and the dress was ready. At this point, Bryan shared her creation online, and it quickly spread across various social media platforms.
"After finishing the dress, I posted a photo on social media, and it snowballed from there. The response was amazing, and the online clothing retailer Ripley's reached out to me," Bryan described in an interview with the "Birmingham Mail."
The team at Ripley's loved the innovative design and decided to hire her to design a collection of dresses and handbags.
Now, a year later, Bryan has become a millionaire designing clothes and fashion accessories of all kinds. "I now rent a fantastic house, I have a sports car, and I'm able to give my children material things they never had before."
