Olivia Marie Mejia was just seven months old when she was accidentally suffocated by her mother while they slept side by side. Her father, Marco, shared an emotional post this week that received thousands of likes and shares: Please remember that Lisa loved Olivia Marie," he wrote, moving readers to tears. "She undoubtedly made the greatest mistake one can make, but I refuse to believe it was intentional. No one grieves more than I do at this moment, and if I can forgive her, anyone can. Please pray for her as well. Thank you all for the immense love."
"You're a good man, Marco. Holding onto hate won't bring your daughter back," wrote one of the many commenters who responded similarly. Some shed tears, others asked questions, and Marco? He patiently answered, with one request: 'Please, forgive my wife. She did not mean to hurt Olivia Marie. She is a good person, and it was all a tragic accident."
For several days, Olivia Marie fought for her life at the local hospital, as Marco made different posts asking for prayers for their little fighter. "Please pray for her. She is in critical condition, but she's a real warrior because she's ours, and if we all pray together, we'll give her strength."
But within a few days, heartbreakingly, her condition deteriorated further until doctors had no choice but to declare her passing. "If the good die young, you were the best," Marco wrote in one of his posts mourning her death. "Mom and Dad will never forget you, your big smile, and your chubby little legs. The pain is unbearable, but love will save us. I find comfort in my heart, knowing Hashem needed you with Him."
