You'd be surprised, but even such art, at such a price, finds buyers. After all, it's a scribble by a renowned English painter who succumbed to a rare illness.

What makes someone, no matter how talented, believe they can charge a fortune for works that, in this case, don't surpass the drawings of a five-year-old? It's a good question, but a better one is what it reveals about the fans willing to go the distance with their admiration for the English painter L.S. Lowry, who passed away from pneumonia in 1976 at the age of 88. The paintings, signed with Lowry's initials LSL, were offered for sale from a private collection, likely by someone who knows well (perhaps too well) the value of the art in their possession.

Experts estimate that collectors are willing to spend millions of dollars on Lowry's works, known mainly for his urban landscape paintings. "These childlike doodles are not displayed in any exhibition," insiders explain. "It is likely these sketches were doodled by Lowry as a token of appreciation for someone or to capture a particular experience, and thus their sentimental value is worth exponentially more than any monetary price."
