It all began when Eric Holland, a retiree from New South Wales, Australia, stepped out to breathe some fresh air in his backyard. Within seconds, as he casually glanced to the side, he was terrified to spot a giant lizard lounging nonchalantly on the wall adjacent to his living room. Though fear gripped him in those moments, Holland quickly darted back inside and took a photo of the creature, which measures nearly two meters long and weighs about 20 (!) kilograms.
Only later, after documenting the scene and speaking to a local radio show, did Holland realize the magnitude of the miracle: the lizard belonged to the Varanus Varius family, known for being venomous. As it climbed down the wall, in his panic, Holland almost stepped on it.
