A Heartwarming Note to a Thoughtful Flight Attendant

Who left an inspiring note for an Israeli flight attendant? "I just wanted to say, I saw what you did for the passenger in seat 48B during the meal and felt compelled to commend you. It was amazing to witness, and I was personally touched," and why?

This touching note was received by Israeli flight attendant Moran Goldstein on El Al flight 327 from Tel Aviv to Paris on October 22, 2015. The author of the note is a fellow passenger on the same flight who witnessed Goldstein's exemplary behavior towards a passenger with Parkinson's. In his Facebook post, passenger Dave Greenberg described what he observed on that flight:

About an hour passed, and one of the flight attendants announced over the PA that the meal service was about to begin.
A few minutes later, two cheerful attendants arrived with a cart of select in-flight meals and asked each passenger what they'd like to eat.
Until this point, nothing seemed out of the ordinary, I know, but every story needs a good foundation, and I'm trying to set the scene, so bear with me... It's about to get interesting.

I'm seated in 49A, and in the row ahead sits a relatively older passenger in the middle seat, with empty seats on either side. I suspect one of the attendants was pretty new on the job, perhaps in training or orientation, but that's more of a guess, and you're welcome to disregard it.

This particular attendant bent towards him to ask what he wanted to eat. He answered (I don't know what he said, but it doesn't matter for our story, so let's move on).
I'm also unsure why I was so engrossed in their conversation, as I couldn't hear what they were saying, and what I did hear, I didn't understand.
However, I'm glad it caught my attention, because here's where the story begins - an event I simply couldn't ignore.

I turned my gaze aside (more precisely down to my plate, as I was starving) for about a minute.
When I looked back, I saw the attendant sitting next to the passenger, helping to cut his food. Once finished, she stood up and continued her work.
That's when I noticed the passenger likely had advanced Parkinson's disease, as he seemed to struggle with every bite.
But..!
That didn't last long.

At this point, I couldn't ignore what the attendant did for the passenger, who hadn't asked for help. She dropped everything at that moment to assist him. But for her, it wasn't enough.

About 5 minutes passed, the time it usually takes to serve all passengers. Most attendants take a quick break before checking on everyone again. Not her, though; she returned to check on him. When she saw he was still struggling, she sat next to him and asked if she could help.
The passenger handed her his fork with a shaky hand, and without hesitation, she took it and began feeding him. When done, she smiled at him and resumed her duties, all the while frequently passing by with a warm smile and concerned eyes, asking if he needed anything.

This went on until the wheels touched the ground (actually, it was until the captain announced everyone should be seated for landing, but the mention of wheels and ground sounds better).

So I couldn't ignore it...

And yes... I understand you might not connect with this story as I did or think it's not all that special. But I couldn't remain indifferent, and it had an impact on me. You know what? What made it so special in my eyes wasn't just what she did, but how she did it - with a huge smile, going beyond expectations, and with a pure and genuine desire to help another person.

Don't ask me why, as I have no answer, but I felt compelled to write her a few lines on a scrap of paper and say thank you. I'm not sure if I'm speaking on behalf of the passenger (who struggled with Hebrew/English) or just myself, but the day, full of mundane events, took an unexpected twist just before it ended.

And you... You don't have to at all!
But if you feel like it, only if, you are welcome to share...
Who knows? Maybe one day she'll wake up, see this buzzing on her wall, and it will make her smile a little, just like she caused the passenger in 48B to smile. By the way, all I know is her name - Moran, if anyone's curious.
And below is a picture of that crumpled note (not sure why I placed it here... but here it is, so deal with it).
