Against All Odds: Celebrating Jackson's Remarkable First Year

When Brittany Strong was told by doctors during her pregnancy that the child she was carrying was 'tantamount to a stillbirth,' her world shattered. "I was devastated because being a mom was a lifelong dream, and in one swift blow, that dream was shattered," she recalls. Indeed, a few months later, Jackson was born with a condition called Microhydranencephaly. This rare disorder (affecting one in every 4,850 children) results in severe brain defects, and most affected do not survive their first year.

Nevertheless, from the moment he came into the world, Jackson's parents decided he'd receive all the love and attention he needed, no less than, if not more than, any other child.

Simultaneously, the parents set up a special Facebook page for him, where they share their journey and post pictures of little Jackson from birth to now, as he celebrates his first year despite all medical predictions. They have already raised over $50,000 to allow Brittany to stay home with him and cover the costs of his treatments. "It's amazing to see how much Jackson impacts people," his mom remarked, noting that his very challenges made him a 'viral sensation.'
