The ten participants in this incredible experiment, recently conducted at the University of Washington, were left speechless at what they witnessed. Researchers divided the group into pairs, with each pair connected to an advanced EEG machine, a computer, and the internet, but physically separated by a kilometer.
Researchers instructed one partner to think of an object, while the other partner had to 'guess' the thought by mentally asking a question like, "Is it a dog?" At this point, the first partner was required to focus their eyes on an LED light marked with 'yes' or 'no', thereby answering the "question" which they received as a flash of light perceived in their brain.
The breakthrough of this research holds immense significance for science. If this form of brain-to-brain communication develops further, it could provide answers to many areas where science is still baffled, such as dealing with people classified as 'vegetative' or those suffering from motor and other impairments.
