#VALUE!

A few months ago, a vendor at a special Bangkok gem and jewelry fair reported the theft of a 6-carat diamond from his booth. Despite extensive efforts, the police couldn't track down the suspects, a man and woman in their 40s, last seen near the booth, until last Friday.

The thief, Lee Jiang Xulian, and her companion, a 45-year-old man, were apprehended at the airport as they attempted to flee the country. Taken into police custody, they both refused to cooperate with investigators. Jiang resisted eating and only drank water during her detention. After searching everywhere for the diamond to no avail, a suggestion was made for Jiang to undergo an X-ray. The suggestion paid off.

The scan revealed the missing gem, leading to an operation to extract the diamond from Jiang's body. She now faces theft charges and is likely to receive a sentence of three years in prison along with a fine.
