Grateful we are not like the nations: A school principal in Canberra, Australia's capital, has been suspended after it was revealed that a 10-year-old child with autism was confined to a cage at the back of a classroom. Initial investigations suggest that the two-meter cage was built using school funds, costing over $5,000, specifically for the child (although the principal claims it was only used once).
Australian Education Minister Joy Berry stated that this act is unacceptable and deeply troubling. "No words can describe this horror." Following the complaint, the issue was brought to the Human Rights Commission, where it will be dealt with severely.
