These shocking photographs were taken and shared on Facebook by Moshe Kosti, an avid diver living in Kibbutz Palmachim. As a regular visitor to the local beach for years, Kosti expressed his distress over the piles of garbage left by beachgoers. This litter not only mars the environment but also poses a deadly threat to local wildlife.
One such victim is the unfortunate sea turtle captured in this image, which stirred social media users and sparked numerous shares. "Nature and Parks Authority - without awareness, there's no change," Kosti wrote on his Facebook page.
Alongside these disturbing photos, Kosti also released a video documenting the heaps of waste on the sea floor. Refuse like bottles, plastic bags, food scraps, and cartons are scattered in the water—debris that the sea certainly doesn't produce on its own. Through this solitary protest, Kosti aimed to highlight the absurdity of environmental pollution, which affects not only us but the entire ecological balance around us.
So who will clean up the beach for us? It seems the responsibility is being passed around within the local authority and, with no effective solution in place, perhaps we need to work on becoming a little less 'Israeli' in this regard, recognizing that "if I am not for myself, who will be for me?"
