Sometimes, simple acts of kindness touch many hearts, even if we don't think a small gesture can have such a big impact. A post that received millions of likes and hundreds of thousands of shares proves this point.
The post shared by Brooke:
"Today I went to have lunch in a restaurant and saw an elderly woman approaching from a distance.
I waited and held the door open for her. She thanked me, and she was so sweet.
She turned to the server and asked: 'Table for one, please.' I hesitated but finally approached her and said, 'I'm eating alone too, would you like to join me for lunch?' She was thrilled!
During our conversation, I learned that for the past decade she lived with her mother, who has since passed away, and her aunt recently moved into a nursing home, making loneliness difficult for her.
We had a wonderful conversation, and she constantly smiled and thanked me for listening to her, which made me smile too!
Her words healed my heart, just as I healed her lonely heart.
Undoubtedly the best decision I've made this year.
Her name is Dolores, and now we will have lunch together every Thursday."

In response to the many shares and comments online, Brooke replied: "All I wanted was to make a difference in someone's life and do something good, to find that helping others can also fill your own heart with joy. Posting this wasn't about bragging. I just wanted to encourage people to take a step back, make a change, and smile. I'm glad that's exactly what happened."
When was the last time you did something for someone? Sometimes, amidst the rush of life, it's the little things and the attention to those we pass by that can create something big in our hearts and theirs.
