Leonard Bullock, 75, had long stopped investing in the upkeep of his home's exterior, primarily because his strength is not what it once was. Like many others on a limited income, financial constraints had also played a role. But no worries—enter Josh Cyganik, a truck driver living nearby Bullock.
It all started when Cyganik overheard two 17-year-olds joking loudly about Bullock's home while Bullock was in his yard. "Look at that funny house, it needs to be burned down," they laughed. "After hearing them, I knew I had to do something," said Cyganik, and he did.
He took to Facebook, posting a call for volunteers to head over to Bullock's home and help with the renovation. "The response was incredible," Cyganik recalls. "I stopped counting at volunteer number 95, and everyone did just an amazing job." After his story went public, several platforms labeled him a 'hero,' but Cyganik dismisses such talk, saying, "I am no hero. I just heard something that disturbed me and decided to act."
