Once again, pollution shows its severe impact. Biologists discovered a sea turtle suffering due to a 12 cm plastic straw stuck in its nose, causing bleeding. This serves as a stark reminder of the importance of keeping beaches clean and even picking up stray plastic bags.
A group of biologists stumbled upon a sea turtle in distress, with a foreign object causing it to bleed. Acting quickly to aid the poor creature, they slowly and carefully removed the item from its nose, revealing it to be a 12 cm plastic drinking straw.
The shocking image sparked debate over whether the biologists should have immediately taken the turtle to a professional veterinarian instead of relying on their judgment. "The bleeding stopped immediately after we removed the straw," explained researcher Christina Figgener, aiming to calm the critics. "Granted, the turtle didn’t 'enjoy' the process, but we hope he can now breathe freely again." According to Figgener, the situation was urgent, requiring immediate attention that didn't allow for the delay of obtaining permits or transporting the turtle to the nearest veterinarian hours away.
