Ants - The Secret is Vinegar

Believe it or not, one of the most powerful scents (even stronger than many commercial products) that makes ants flee is cinnamon. Sprinkling cinnamon near various holes throughout the house will likely cause ants to 'choke' and run away as far as possible. You can achieve the same effect by using a mixture of vinegar and water.

Flies - A Reason to Grow Basil

Flies are repelled by strong, pungent smells, so you can keep them at bay by placing basil plants near windows and heating pure lavender or mint oil in a candle burner. You'll be surprised how such a simple, effective tip can work against these annoying and elusive creatures.

Mosquitoes - Why Didn't We Think of Rosemary?

Instead of stocking up on commercial mosquito repellents, simply spread the scent of rosemary around the house. You can use concentrated rosemary oil or scatter rosemary leaves in different parts of the home. The same job can also be done by citronella oil when heated in a candle burner.

Bees - Cucumber is the Solution

Many studies have shown that, despite its almost unnoticeable scent, cucumber possesses properties that repel and ward off insects, especially bees. Therefore, try spreading cucumber peels near windows or around problem areas (like a sticky honey jar...)

Moths - Lavender to the Rescue

Moths laying their eggs in the closet can cause significant damage to clothing or dry goods. You can tackle this issue by placing a handful of fresh lavender leaves in a fabric bag on the closet shelves. The strong scent of lavender will keep them away from your wardrobe.

Cockroaches - They Love Mess

If you love cleanliness and order and consistently maintain it, cockroaches are likely to skip your home in their search for food. If not, you can deal with the problem by distributing dried bay leaves or fresh grated garlic in higher areas of the house where cockroaches tend to reach.
