A Natural Miracle Birth: Triplets with Identical Twins

UK: Great excitement took over the doctors at the local hospital in Essex during the delivery of 37-year-old Claire Cerikci. Cerikci gave birth to triplet boys, two of whom are identical twins - in a completely natural birth. "This is an extraordinary case of twins sharing the same placenta and amniotic sac," explained one of the senior doctors in the maternity ward, adding, "The likelihood of such a situation occurring is one in three million."

When Cerikci was asked how she felt during the pregnancy, she said, "Until the 24th week, the pregnancy went relatively smoothly. Then the doctors discovered an issue with excess fluid in the womb and gave me medication to reduce it." However, this came with complications: the medication helped stabilize the twins but put one baby at risk due to a lack of fluid. "It was a very frightening time for us and we didn't know what to do. The doctors prepared us for the babies to be born quite small, and even though they were slightly larger than expected, they are still very small."
