Grace and Lily Johnston, one-year-old twins from Britain, were born 13 weeks premature, each weighing only 900 grams. They spent many weeks in the NICU, where nurses were amazed to see the tiny twins holding each other's hands even while sleeping.

"I believe the fact that they held hands in the hospital during their fight for survival gave them strength," says their mother, Hannah.

During their stay in the NICU, Lily developed an infection and was separated from Grace to receive antibiotics. When the medical team placed Lily back next to Grace, the twins quickly reached out to hold hands again. "It was a very emotional moment," Hannah shares. "It was as if they were reassuring each other they were going to make it."

Once they returned home, the twins remained inseparable, with Hannah noting that they are the best of friends. "Even if I have to take one away for a diaper change, the other cries until she's back. They just love to be together."
