Did Someone Build a Pyramid on Mars?
Is it a pyramid or a play of light and shadows? NASA's photos have the internet buzzing. What's really happening on Mars?
Even the American space agency probably didn't expect such a big buzz online from pictures it captured a month ago. A large number of viewers have seen these images, displaying a pyramid-like structure on Mars, and claimed that someone has built it there as it bears a striking resemblance to the pyramids of Egypt.

Could it be that 'skilled' extraterrestrials have been working for years on this monumental piece of art, as suggested by a site called 'Paranormal Crucible', which even released an explanatory video on YouTube about it? Or is it just a handful of conspiracy theorists? In all the commotion, there were also a few 'rational' users who quickly debunked these bizarre claims and wrote that it's merely a play of light and shadow, nothing more.
So, who is right? Hmm, interesting. As per our usual custom, we leave the mysterious puzzle in the reliable hands of Daniel Belles, editor of the Torah and Science department at Hidabroot: "In the past, people claimed to find a human face on Mars, and further images showed it was just an optical illusion of light and shadow. Regarding the pyramid, NASA announced that it's nothing more than a jagged rock, no bigger than a small car. So there's no reason to get excited about it."

"It is a rock," Dr. Jim Bell, deputy principal investigator of the Mastcam investigation program and a professor of astronomy at Arizona State University in Tempe, told The Huffington Post in an email. "It is probably a volcanic rock (like most rocks that we've seen with rovers on Mars), and just like many volcanic rocks on the Earth, many volcanic rocks on Mars break and cleave in very sharp, angular ways. This one happens to have cleaved into a pyramidal shape, which is actually not too uncommon among hard, dense volcanic rocks on the Earth either." As for the size of the rock, Bell said an analysis by the Mastcam team suggests that it's only about four inches tall, or the height of an 8-ounce soda can.
