UFOs in Texas Skies: What's Really Going On?

Strange sightings have been reported over Texas skies for weeks: large, slow-moving "disks" that vanish without a trace. What might be causing this phenomenon, and what do meteorologists have to say?

Spaceships, aliens, flying saucers, and UFOs — these are just some of the speculations made by locals upon witnessing the unusual phenomenon over Texas, and it's not the first time. Texas has had a reputation for these "complaints" since 1987, when locals claimed to have seen UFOs flying and an inexplicable "cosmic halo" surrounding them. In time, it turned out to be a "storm in a teacup," as these complaints were never definitively proven.

And now, history seems to repeat itself. In this recent case, one resident went as far in their description to claim it was a UFO camouflaging itself within a cloud. Perhaps this is why they preferred to remain anonymous: "At first, it looked like a cloud, but then it disappeared before my eyes," the resident said, adding, "It seems unlikely that such a massive cloud would appear and vanish within seconds unless it's true that UFOs use clouds to hide, to hover discreetly over Earth."

Meteorologists were quick to dismiss these odd claims and calmed the situation, even providing a scientific (and rather convincing) explanation for the phenomenon: these are 'lenticular clouds' — circular and rare clouds formed when moist air rapidly flows over a mountain. One of their characteristics is that they disappear as suddenly as they appear.
