Ecuador: A catfish has been caught on camera by naturalists, skillfully climbing the slick walls of a dark cave in an attempt to reach food remnants near the ceiling. According to researchers, this documentation could shed new light on the behavioral patterns of this fish.
While the fish has always been known for its amazing ability to cling to rocks and trees using only its mouth, its climbing capabilities have only been discovered recently. Jess Haus, one of the researchers involved in the study, states that it is currently unknown how the fish manages to ascend to such heights using only its body. However, it is believed to be a particularly adaptable fish, developing survival techniques based on the environment in which it resides.
