Two-Headed Calf Born in Florida

Meet Annabel, a two-headed calf born just a week ago on a farm in Baker County, Florida. "No one has seen anything like this around here, or anywhere for that matter," said Carolyn Cruz, the farm owner. "I don't think she'll survive; she might have pneumonia."

Because the calf's head is so heavy, she cannot stand on her legs to nurse from her mother. Thus, Cruz feeds her with a special bottle multiple times throughout the day.

How does an animal end up with such a condition, you ask? This is a medical condition known as 'polycephaly,' which means having more than one head. Veterinarians say that living with this condition is possible; however, in Annabel's case they fear that if she cannot lift herself in the coming days and function independently, she may not survive. 

Of course, this is just the tip of the iceberg, as genetic problems can stem from various other reasons: air and soil pollution, lack of vitamins or other essential nutrients for proper development, trauma during pregnancy, or various hereditary diseases.
