Maya Shem, a 21-year-old from Shoham, was abducted to Gaza during a deadly terror attack on the Shabbat of Simchat Torah. Initially missing, it was later confirmed she was taken by Hamas. A video was even sent by the captors showing her alive.
A few days ago, Maya's mother performed a heartfelt challah separation ceremony, pleading with Hashem for her daughter's release, along with all the other captives.
Those present at the challah event echoed "Amen" to each prayer and request her mother made, and blessed be Hashem, the prayers were heard.
Yesterday, just a few days after the challah separation, young Maya was released from captivity and was able to embrace her mother after 55 long days.
